Why Catholicism do they call one another brother, sister, father etc?

A priest is supposed to be a spiritual father to his congregation. A monk is supposed to be in a spiritual fraternity with other monks. A nun is supposed to be in a spiritual sorority with other nuns. Bear in mind that the head of a convent is also called Mother Superior. It is supposed to be a term of respect, endearment and recognition. If you are a monk, you will refer to a fellow monk as your brother, even if there is no blood relation. Some monks are also priests, at which point I think they are called father (precedence), unless it is in the company of other monks. There is also rank involved. A Cardinal and a Pope are also priests, but owing to their rank, you would refer to them as “Your Eminence” (Cardinal) and “Your Holiness” (Pope). The Pope is also referred to as “The Holy Father” in the third person by Catholics.
