Why carry out research into bullying?
People are motivated to find out more about bullying for a number of reasons including the following: • They may have personal experience of it which has prompted them to become involved in its study. • They may be engaged on a course which requires them to carry out a piece of research. • They may be teachers or psychologists who are expected to deal with the consequences of bullying as part of their work. • They may wish to increase knowledge about the nature, extent and consequences of bullying. Ultimately, all research into bullying is likely to be aimed at either helping people to understand its causes or helping school communities to tackle it more effectively.
