Why CAPs database cannot be downloaded free of charge from Internet?
Answer Poste Italiane still offers, for free, to customers all the means to find out the exact CAP for all the Italian addresses both on its Internet site and through contact center (freephone 803.160*) or at its post offices. In such a way the company fully guarantees data’s publicity. On the contrary the whole database cannot be downloaded, being it only Poste Italiane property. In order to develop and maintain this database Poste Italiane has invested, and is still investing, both in terms of development of adequate software components and in terms of employment of human resources to verify and improve its data handling with the objective of constantly updating toponymical data and the related organizational delivery information according to territory’s redefinition. The results of such activities referring to CAP’s database development and improvement are offered to customers by a constant updating system regarding both CAP (Codice di avviamento postale, i.e. Postal Sending Code) P
