Why can we eat or drink for 30 minutes after using mouthwash?
If it is a Fluoride mouthwash, like ACT or a prescription mouthwash from the dental office, you do not want to wash away the fluoride that is sitting on your teeth. You have to wait thirty minutes so that it soaks in and sits on the teeth long enough to be effective. Regular mouthwash, like Listermint, Scope or whatever, it doesn’t matter, but the Fluoride rinses won’t work if you rinse, eat or drink right after you use them. It is best to do it before going to bed. Brush, floss and do your fluoride rinse before bed, that way it sits on the teeth with no more snacking, or drinking. Make sense?
