Why can the “SSF to AVI, no recompression” handle compressed audio?

It can but it will run into problems if it has to split the new AVI files into more than one segment. Some audio compressors embed fake data at the start of their audio streams or massage the audio in the stream into “frames” making it difficult to safely split the audio stream from one file segment to the next without first decompressing the audio.
