Why can the seniors just stay at the current Senior Center?
Most seniors cherish the current senior center. However, estimates predict that the senior population in Groton will double within 10 years and maybe sooner. Seniors are remaining active longer, but not necessarily working longer. This creates a significant need for senior activities. Nearly every senior health-related study indicates that remaining active, both physically and mentally, contributes greatly to long-term health. The Community Center will provide seniors with expanded services to address the very issues that lead to a better quality of life. The community center will allow for the town to take advantage of shared resources, making for more efficient delivery of services. It is also our belief that many seniors would benefit from the chance to offer their knowledge, wisdom, and services by interacting with children and teens, so we are trying to address that belief as well.
