Why can’t the district fund these improvements over time with the money they already receive to operate the schools?
The facilities review conducted in 2008 by PCS, Inc. identified over $15,000,000 in repairs to existing buildings to make them safe, warm, and dry. These repairs are above and beyond the routine facilities maintenance performed every year. The district’s general fund operating budget cannot allocate $15,000,000 or more for the necessary repairs.
