Why can’t Statistics Canada use the information we already provide in the monthly survey?
(Note: Some stores and chains may also receive a monthly survey.) The monthly survey provides only monthly sales and inventories, while the annual survey provides a more complete picture of retail operations: • revenue from other sources than sales • detailed expense items and inventories • type of customer information • information by location These data are used to create financial statistics for benchmarking and local statistics for marketing.
