Why can’t PLNU just add more women’s sports to balance the male-female athlete ratio?
Unfortunately, adding more women’s sports beyond golf is not a viable option. Because of PLNU’s location, the university has a capped enrollment, meaning that the undergraduate student population cannot exceed the number of students currently enrolled. This means that PLNU cannot simply admit more students to help offset the cost of adding new sports, which would include funding the teams and providing scholarships. In addition, PLNU faces significant facility limitations both because of our location and because of cost. These factors have made adding more women’s sports an impossibility.
