Why can’t people make checks out to Tiny Hands Nepal?
We are not an American non-profit organization, but rather, a Nepali non-government organization. Therefore, we do not have an account in America, but in Nepal. Since the mail system here is very, very slow, and unreliable (checks can take months to send, and months to clear), we would have to run a very large debt for an extended period of time in order to accept checks. The nature of our organization (charitable activities, our spending policies, and the way our volunteer pashmina program operates) is such that running a debt of this kind is not an option. Instead, we have people make checks out to our volunteers, who pay THN very quickly and safely on our website.
