Why can my betta fish swim and why has he stopped eating?
Sounds to me like constipation perhaps. Can lead to swim bladder but usually it can be fixed. Do a 50% water change every day for the next 5 days and feed him one frozen pea, cooked and skinned (the outer case of the pea removed). Pea’s are probably the best cure for constipation, when I first got into keeping fish, I fell for the over feeding spell… as its all they seemed to do, EAT. And soon found out the hard way that’s bad! So I checked online and found out that pea’s help. Not just to aid passing of waste, but as a supplement for food too. Mash one up and place it in the tank. If he eats it, watch for any waste produced. Bettas are a strange fish in that they can actually take air from the surface and retain in (as a whale would for example) and use it as they need to, so coming up for air is a natural thing for them if the tank isnt oxygenated enough.
