Why cant large motors be supplied on Armstrongs series 6500 booster systems?

0

Armstrong series 6500 booster systems are a special space efficient booster design that only uses 4270 and 4280 series end suction pumps installed vertically. The installation of these normally horizontal mounted pumps greatly reduces the footprint of these systems. However, there is a limit to the size of the motor that can be safely installed in a vertical configuration. Large motors (30 hp plus) distort the center of gravity making them very top heavy and unstable and therefore, Armstrong has limited the size for the motors for such systems to 25 hp and lower.
