Why can I use Xfire to join a server when my game is already running?
The way Instant Joining works is through what are called command line parameters. These command lines need to be used in conjunction with the launch of the .exe file for that game. If the game is already running there is no way to pass a command line statement to that game. Some games handle this better than others. Most will let you know that you already have an instance of the game running. Simply shut down the game and use Xfire to join the intended server you were about to join.
