Why can I project individual investment account returns in Quicken Financial Planner?
Quicken Financial Planner (QFP) is a projecting (or modeling) program. It is not intended to track individual investments. Instead, the value of an entire portfolio is projected, and there are options to track three different portfolios in a single QFP plan (Taxable, Your Tax-deferred and Spouse Tax-deferred). For long-term financial planning, predicting a realistic rate of return for all investments is the key to creating a good plan. Ideally, it is best to work with Quicken for Windows to track day-to-day investment activity and returns, then, based on periodic assessment of performance, make changes to the QFP plan.
