Why can I overlay other Windows applications on top of SiliconDVR?

0

SiliconDVR uses a type of DirectX mode called “Full Screen” in order for the V-sync of the monitor to be precisely in-sync with the graphics card as it refreshes the display, preventing artifacts such as tearing from appearing on the screen, especially during pans and other motion. As a result, Windows is unable to mix an application that has full control of the video display buffer and a normal Windows GDI-based application. Therefore other applications cannot overlay SiliconDVR.
