Why can I install SCO UNIX 3.2 version 4.2 or OpenServer 5.0x from a SCSI CD-ROM to an EIDE hard-disk drive?
Do the following: • Use the atapi driver method (noted in the release notes of OpenServer 5.0) so that the EIDE hard-disk drive works in the Auto mode (an option in the CMOS). • Use an Adaptec 1510 or 1522 ISA SCSI controller, set it to IRQ11 and I/O 140 (you must change the default), and configure that card using the ISA Configuration Utility (ICU) or the EISA Configuration Utility (ECU), whichever applies. • Use the spad driver later to make sure any CD-ROM or tape drive works on the controller after the installation (use the mkdev cdrom and mkdev tape commands).
