Why can I edit a partition using PartMan?

Please read the INSTALL file on the FTP site, pointed to here. Commonly, this is caused by either PartMan detecting too few cylinders, or a fully-used hard disk. First, click ‘Menu’ over PartMan’s main window, and choose ‘Geometry’. Check that the number of cylinders is correct for your drive. You should not modify the number of sectors or heads, especially if the drive contains a Filecore partition. If the number of cylinders is not correct, try entering the correct number, and try again. If the number of cylinderes is correct, is any free space indicated by PartMan? If there is none, then it could be that the filecore partition is occupying the whole drive. PartMan cannot alter a filecore partition in any way, it is necessary to use the formatter software which came with the interface your drive is connected to. This is described in the installation guide.
