Why can’t I detect my device using ActiveSync on my PC? / Why do I receive a message on screen asking for an “RNDIS” driver to be installed?
You must be running Activesync 4.0 or newer in order to use your JAQ with your PC. Version 4.1 is on the companion CD that came with your Pocket PC. Customers with version 4.0 on their PC should upgrade to version 4.1. Some personal firewalls may prevent Activesync from detecting your device, especially when using high security configurations. You may need to allow connections from the Activesync application to the Internet if prompted. Ensure that USB or Bluetooth connections are enabled (ActiveSync > File > Connection Settings > “Allow USB Connections” or “Allow Connections to one of the following COM”). If you still experience problems, first check that your firewall is allowing your PC to communicate with your device. Personal Firewall software may be automatically blocking ports (5678, 5679, 990, 26675, and 5721) that ActiveSync is attempting to use. The IP addresses commonly used are 169.254.2.1 on the device and 169.254.2.2 on the PC. For the in-built firewall with Service Pack
