Why can’t I buy a white LED and use it to illuminate all the lens colors?
White LED is made with a blue LED that is coated with a phosphor. This creates a white illumination that is close to white but not entirely. There is not enough of the red color spectrum to allow it to glow well under red or orange lenses. It will illuminate the lenses but not as brightly as the other colors.
