Why can I browse the web with Blazer using the Wifi Adapter on my Sprint Treo 650?

In doing our final testing it was discovered that Sprint has locked the Blazer Browser on the Treo to force the data through the carrier network, preventing these phones from ‘talking’ to the Wi-Fi Adapter when browsing. To get around this, you can use a proxy service (list of free proxy servers). To specify a proxy server in Blazer, go to Options / Preferences… / Advanced / Set Proxy. When using Sprint PCS Vision, uncheck the “Use Proxy” box to restore the internal proxy setting.
