Why cant I apply for a voluntary transfer before I have been in the District for 6 semesters as a full-time teacher?
This decision was reached in recognition that a new PPS teacher often experiences a steep learning curve in their first three years of teaching in Pittsburgh. It is the Districts belief that new teachers benefit from spending their first years in the same school community while they get up to speed. Even experienced teachers new to the District are still learning the PPS curriculum and in many instances are teaching in an urban environment for the first time.
