Why can Gertrude see the ghost of King Hamlet in the book Hamlet?
There is much debate over whether or not the ghost of King Hamlet is real or just a figment of Hamlet’s imagination. If simply a figment of a frail-minded Danish prince, there is no way the ghost of King Hamlet could reveal himself to anyone else. If the ghost is real, he may not reveal himself to his wife and queen Gertrude because she has betrayed him by marrying and aligning herself with murderous Claudius. There is also evidence in the text to suggest that Gertrude is frail-minded.
