Why can DON CCPMD training count toward DAWIA credit?
First, only persons in acquisition billets may earn continuous learning points (CLP) for DAWIA training. CLP may be earned in a number of ways, including DAU courses, other college courses, brown bag learning lunches, reading a book, etc.. In order for the CLP to be officially recorded for DAWIA, if learning is other than DAU, the student’s supervisor must provide a written recommendation/approval of the “training” in order for the student to receive DAWIA CLPs (in cases where COs are the students, many times the XOs provide the recommendation/approval). Individuals not in acquisition billets can receive credit (not DAWIA) for taking training by adding it to their Individual Development Plan (IDP).
