Why can´t deCODEme give me a diagnosis based on my genetic data?
deCODEme provides information about your genetic risk. It does not make a definitive diagnosis because the genetic factors for the common diseases are not determinative (yes-no) like they are for rare genetic diseases like Huntington?s disease. The genetic risk factors for common diseases are more analogous to clinical risk factors for heart attack like LDL-cholesterol. Having higher genetic risk does not mean you will develop the disease and having low genetic risk does not mean you will not get the disease ? other risk factors, known and unknown play are role as well.
