Why cant actors keep their real names while acting?
Equity records each name in the UK-if you have two actors with the same name they can be confused with each other. The trouble is if you have two actors from different countries and/or they are famous before they start acting-an example would be the English Will Smith, who is a different actor from the American Will Smith.
