WHY CAN THE COMPU-TRONIX DIS™ DELIVER EVEN MORE ENERGY THAN A DWELL CONTROL SYSTEM, ESPECIALLY AT HIGH RPM?

There two basic reasons. First, the elimination of the “weak link” in a single coil system, the arcing at the gap between the rotor and cap electrodes, allows the energy to be increased to levels that would rapidly deteriorate these components. Second, even single coil systems with dwell control run out of available charge time at high rpm. In an eight cylinder engine the coil must be charged and discharged four times every engine revolution. The coils in a DIS™ system must be charged and discharged only once every engine revolution regardless of the number of cylinders. Thus there is ample time to fully charge them even up to 12,000 rpm!
