The easy answer is to not use media player and to use the VLC player [Link below] If it is a movie you downloaded, it could be defective. Right click and view the info tab, it should give you frame rate, codec used, all of that stuff and then you know your movie is OK If the extension is qt mov or rmvb you will need a special plug in.
