Why can plastic not be recycled yet – surely that uses up too much landfill?

Many plastics can be recycled, the problem is there is little demand for the product. At this point it isn’t profitable, so waste managment departments aren’t motivated to do it. Yes plastics in general are a large part of what is filling up out landfills, we can do 2 things, reduce plastics in our life, and create a demand for recycled plastics. I rarely use plastics at all, I don’t buy plastic wrap, or plastic food containers, instead I have several reusable glass containers for freezing and other food storage. I try to avoid overpackaging, I buy fresh bread that is wrapped in paper instead of many brands that put 2 layers of plastic on bread. I don’t buy many convenience foods or take out. I have cloth grocery bags, and I don’t use plastic plates or utensils. When I do buy plastics, like trash liners I buy recycled or vegetable starch. I just went to buy some paint supplies and found paint rollers made with recycled plastic and biodegradable paint pans. I also have recycled plastic
