Why can not diesel engine use 100% natural gas ?

0

Because the natural gas needs 650ÂșC to be ignited. As it is known, in the diesel cycle engine the ignition of the fuel is by compression, the generated temperature is not enough to ignite the natural mixture of air/gas. For an engine to work on 100% gas it must be converted to otto cycle, which is technological more intensive and with high costs. The Argenchip Dualfuel systems reduce an important amount of diesel fuel creating as known as pilot ignition source to ignite the mixture of air and natural gas, being a more economic alternative.
