Why can I not send email when the Protexx Data Guard Dog is active?
Some Internet Service Providers (ISP’s) block the sending of email when the user is not on their network. To better explain this example, let’s assume that your ISP at home is “The ABC ISP” company. Now let’s say you’re traveling and using the hotel’s internet service and trying to send email from your “ABC” account. You are now on a different IP address at that hotel, perhaps in another state where your ISP doesn’t even provide service. The “ABC” email server sees that the user is not on the “ABC” network and will not allow the email to go out. When the Protexx Data Guard Dog is active, your IP address is different than what your ISP recognizes resulting in a similar situation where it appears that the email you are sending is coming from the Protexx network. That is why your email will not be sent. • To resolve this situation, change your outgoing mail server (SMTP server) to smtp.protexxinc.com For detailed instructions on how to change your outgoing mail server, check your mail cli
