Why can I no longer send mail through gwsmtp?

0

If you were using gwsmtp as your outbound e-mail server on a client, such as Versa Mail or Eudora, this will no longer function. The gwsmtp email server was allowing SPAM to be relayed from the Internet to internal and external recipients (open relay). We have prevented this server from accepting mail for email addresses outside of the University of the Pacific (Pacific). If you need to access or send mail from outside of Pacific, from your home or an off-campus computer, you should try using webmail via insidePacific as a first alternative. Other alternatives include setting up a different outbound e-mail server or setting up compatible exchange/outlook clients. For Verizon mobile devices there are some steps below for setting up the e-mail client. The instructions below are provided by Verizon and can also be found on the VerizonWireless FAQs. Verizon Wireless has implemented an outbound SMTP mail server for you to be able to send your e-mail.
