Why can circus elephants sometimes be dangerous or angry?
Elephant have long memories. They can remember their tricks, and they can also remember those who abuse and traumatize them. Many elephants have “hit back” over the years, injuring and killing their trainers and keepers. Others simply crack under the stress, frustration and bad conditions resorting to mindless rocking and swaying or they “go on the rampage”. When denying elephants their most basic instincts and behaviors this should not be very surprising.
