Why buy computer monitors with lower contrast ratios?
Ah… gotta love marketing! Truth is, contrast ratios are measured differently by each company, unlike lumens of projector output or power output of an amplifier, where the FTC has set guidelines. Thus, the numbers are impossible to compare to each other, and the Samsung and Lucky Goldstar monitors could easily have WORSE contrast `than the Sony and Dell with inferior numbers. On another note, the Sony and Dell are probably Korean or Taiwanese, and despite differing contrast rations and cases, could even have the same circuitry as the two Korean-branded ones you cited. Moral of the story? Use your eyes to ascertain contrast, not numbers.
