Why build this medical fitness center instead of more in-patient beds? The hospital is already so crowded?
A. We realize that our inpatient areas are impacted. This community continues to grow. More and more patient services and being handled on an outpatient basis and we simply did not have the physical space to accommodate this need. In addition, many of our services would have been required to relocate from the original hospital building because of seismic mandates. We are also pursuing several options to create new inpatient beds in our current facility. Finally, we hope that we will be able to impact inpatient admissions once our wellness approach takes hold.
