Why build Pre-Production molds??
Pre-production tooling is usually single cavity and cold runner. This tooling can be produced very rapidly and be placed in production while a multi cavity hard steel tool is still in production/debug. This type of tooling allows for accelerating product manufacturing schedules by providing quality parts to begin the assembly process. Although this approach may not represent the final most cost effective solution to molding a particular product, the slight decrease in profit margin is offset by having the product in the marketplace sooner.
