Why build a File Management System?
Since the beginning of Content Management Systems, I have wondered how much content of a website is still in use and how much files remain inactive but still present in a folder as part of that website. My experience is that users always add a lot of content, but never ever have the possibility to walk through all the content and to check what is obsolete and can be removed! To make it possible for these CMS users to have an overview of files within their website and also enable the possibility to clean up these folders, I created a File Management System.
