Why BMCC @ Lehman College?
The agreement is the second of the BMCC @ project. BMCC @ Brooklyn College was jumpstarted last year. It was designed to help lessen travel stress on the student population, and help BMCCers grow accustomed to CUNY senior colleges, where they may consider transferring to after completing studies at BMCC. BMCC @ Brooklyn College was very successful, with many students registering, said Erwin Wong, Dean of Academic Affairs. The framework of that partnership is being carried over to BMCC @ Lehman College. “The philosophy was that many of our students come from Brooklyn, and they graduate from BMCC, and then attend Brooklyn College,” said Wong. “Now, in phase II, we are now looking at the students that reside in the Bronx. The same philosophy is that those students who are residing in the Bronx have easy access to Lehman, and the expectation is that when they graduate from BMCC, they will, in fact transfer to Lehman.
