Why Bladeless LASIK, or ‘Intralase’?

0

The LASIK procedure is a 2-step process. The first step requires the creation of a flap of tissue on the top of the cornea. With ‘bladeless LASIK’, the surgeon uses an advanced laser, not a blade, to create the corneal flap. When lifted, the flap allows another laser (excimer) to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism. The flap is then folded back and reseated with a tighter seal than if a blade were used, allowing for a quicker recovery with a rapid visual recovery. This technology also gives the surgeon the ability to customize the flap for every patient. Intralase has changed the way laser vision correction is performed by offering computer controlled precision and accuracy to the LASIK procedure.
