Why “BABOO” as opposed to “family truckster,” “turdmobile,” “battle wagon,” or “rusty old POS?”
It must be conceded that many of these pet names have been used to describe the BABOO at one time or another. However, in late 1988, the BABOO underwent a dramatic transformation, marked most notably by the replacement of her old Connecticut Constitution State 531-EZW tags for her highly coveted BABOO (also CT) vanity plates. This otherwise unremarkable cosmetic modification marked a sea change in the vehicle’s character. Suddenly, the BABOO took on a brazen new identity; her beauty became manifest through an unmitigated zeal to tow, shlep, drag, and haul, effortlessly obliterating anything in her path. Hefty payloads were shouldered with gleefully bulging tires and joyously cantilevered, over-cambered suspension; passengers clamored in and out of her by the dozen. She became drawn to missions of chicane origins and turpitudinous ends; fun and mischief were inexorably linked to her every action.
