Why arent these Laurel & Hardy DVDs available in America?
This is not easily explained in concise fashion, but basically, since 1971 the copyrights to films in the Hal Roach library are owned by different parties for the Eastern Hemisphere and the Western Hemisphere respectively, thus imposing territorial restrictions on where the two different companies controlling the films can market and distribute them. There is yet the possibility of a DVD arrangement in America, but we have no information to report on it at this time. If and when a deal is made, we will share such news.
