Why arent the letters on a keyboard in alphabetical order?

The current layout of keys on a keyboard was designed for typewriters. When typewriters originally had keys in alphabetical order, it would cause problems, commonly used letters were right next to each other and you’d run into problems like jamming. The QWERTY keyboard fixed this problem by re-organizing the letters. Now that we have computers, we COULD revert back to an alphabetical layout, but we don’t because everyone has learned to type using a QWERTY keyboard.
