Why aren ships in pirate waters armed and/or proceed in convoys with naval escort protection?
I heard on CNN that it would take 250 Navy ships to patrol the entire area. On a talkshow, I heard an expert in Maritime shipping say these cargo ships are not armed because they have a special aggreement with various nations. They get passage if they don’t carry weapons and pose a threat to any nation.
