Why aren puppy mills illegal?

Passing laws doesn’t punish puppy millers, it punishes responsible breeders. Just like BSL doesn’t punish the guy who beats his Pit Bull that’s chained up all day but I can’t have my very well behaved dog in Montana. Obama isn’t the one that needs to take action. If you really want to get on board with this spread the word not to buy from BYBs, puppy mills and pet stores. Contact your senators and state representatives and ask them what are they doing about it? To be honest with the issues our country is facing right now I think dogs are going to be on the back burner for a while.

I swear they’re already illegal in certain states and also I don’t think it’s up to Obama to ban them so much as individual states. Yeah, I’m pretty sure they’re illegal. You might be confused with irresponsible breeders who got greedy. Anyway, police find and raid actualy puppy mills, make arrests, the works.

They ARE illigal, but so is smoking under a certain age…but people still do it. We are trying to stop puppy mills, but people keep buying pups from stores. They keep growing because WE are giving them money…so thats why WE can help by not buying pups from STORES.

If the dogs are kept in inhumane conditions, they *are* illegal. Trouble is, they’re located in very rural areas where there’s a sheriff and two deputies, everyone knows each other, and the “good ol’ boy network” prevents anyone from getting too deep into anyone else’s business. But there’s nothing illegal about breeding dogs for money, and that’s where the trouble is. Breeding (the bad kind) is a business, and how do you increase profits in a business? By cutting expenses. How do you cut expenses in an animal facility? By not taking care of the animals. Feed them less, don’t use the water bill to bathe them, don’t pay for veterinary care, etc. This – raising animals for business – was also responsible for the e.coli outbreak in beef a few years ago. It’s also responsible for Mad Cow Disease. It’s responsible for hormones in the milk and egg supply, which may also be responsible for ever-increasing rates of hormone-linked cancer (like breast cancer). This is just capitalism applied to

Shut up. Obama just stepped into office last month. Right now, he is dealing with a very rough economy, and working on making American life better for the people who live here. He has four years to do something to make this America better for the people. Also, if they weren’t illegal already, why do the people who own them get shut down every time they’re discovered.
