I would say it’s a matter of what is required by Comic editors, most want a competent artist Who can not only do convincing back ground But realistic body gestures. Designing interesting New superheroes is the last thing on their minds as They already have their group of established characters As a result we have an industry of artist who are Producing some fine work, but have the creative Skill of a brick, if any of the artists today tried to do what Kirby did, or attempted to create interesting new Designs like Larsen or Cockrum, then they would pass out. And yes I do know what I’m talking about I’ve been Designing my own characters from the age of 11 and I’m 43, with over 4000 designs, 300 of them are as good as anything that you will see from the big 3, so don’t take the word of someone who has never designed a character In their life that all the good ideas have already been done. take it from someone with a legion.
