Why aren all ships built to PNTLs high standards?

0

The PNTL ships are designed to provide a safe and reliable shipping service for movements of spent fuel, vitrified waste, mixed oxide (MOX) fuel and other nuclear materials. Because small volumes of nuclear materials generate relatively large amounts of energy (compared to oil, coal and gas), the PNTL ships carrying them do not have to be big. This also means that the economics of the shipments are not adversely affected by the wide double hulls that amount to forty per cent of the beam (width) of the ship. For shipments of other materials, cargo room is at a premium.
