Any qualified local health and human service nonprofit can apply for funding through the competitive process. However, some agencies do not meet United Way standards or are not selected, while others follow national policies that require they operate independently. Thousands of agencies not directly affiliated with United Way are eligible to receive financial support through United Way from contributors who designate their gifts. Therefore, United Way’s campaign is open to all qualifying nonprofits that provide health and human services.
