Why aren t you more supportive of the Iowa Hawkeyes?
You won’t find bigger Hawkeye fans than those at the Press-Citizen. Winning teams are more fun to cover than losing ones, and winning teams sell papers and drive Web site traffic. However, we have a commitment to providing fair and balanced coverage to the Hawkeyes and their opponents. While we will most often tell the story from the Hawkeye perspective, we cannot cast a blind eye to scandal, poor play or problems with a program. Some fans wish we would boost, support and promote University of Iowa athletics at all times, but we can’t do that any more than we could do the same for a particular candidate or political party. As a result, bad things get negative coverage, but we are still obligated to be fair.
