Depending on the place it has to do with religion and/or the government. They put up with it because they don’t really have much of a choice. A few have escaped the middle east and are still in great danger because they are brave and have chosen to tell about how they were mistreated in their country. EDIT: Sorry but I just read the comment before mine and it is totally off. If the women in the Middle East had the freedom American women had even 100 years ago, they would be jumping for joy compared to what they have had to go through in the past and what they currently go through.
