Why are we raising money for buildings if there are educational programming needs, like textbooks and teachers?

Local school bond funds should not be used to fund basic educational programs. Basic educational programs are the responsibilty of the state, under Washington’s constitution, although our district supplements some of its budget through levies. (See below) We encourage those concerned about educational funding to contact their state legislators. We have to make regular improvements to our school buildings to keep them safe, clean, and up to modern standards like those included in the Americans with Disabilities Act. Some of our older buildings are efficient structures with historic value, but in other cases we would better serve our students (and ultimately save money) through new construction.
