We last published final rules revising the listings for the hemic and lymphatic system and the malignant neoplastic diseases system in the Federal Register on December 6, 1985 (50 FR 50068). In the preamble to those rules, we indicated that due to medical advances in disability evaluation and treatment and program experience we would periodically review and update the listings. The current listings for the hemic and lymphatic system and malignant neoplastic diseases will no longer be effective on July 2, 2003. We are proposing to update the listings in part A, 7.00 and 13.00, and in part B, 107.00 and 113.00. We propose to make the rules effective for 5 years from their effective date, unless we extend them, or revise and issue them again. We will continue to apply our current listings until we evaluate the public comments on these proposed rules and determine whether they should be issued as final rules.
